In the beginning...

Hi everyone... my name is George Whyte and I am the founder and owner of Chi-City Enterprises.  Things sure have changed since I first got started in the DJ business.  Music has always been a great love of mine and something I've been involved in since I began playing the drums in the 4th grade.  At Naperville North High School I was active in the band and pit orchestra - writing the original drum cadences for the marching band.  At Bradley University (BS Business/Marketing '82) I was a member of the Symphonic Winds, BU Jazz Band, and Basketball Band.

It was in my sophomore year that Chi-City Enterprises was born.  I initially "spun records" at fraternity and sorority parties - eventually graduating to weddings.  My biggest problem at that time was convincing people that the mobile DJ concept would work (everyone hired bands back then).  There weren't manufacturers that made DJ equipment or lighting either, so we had to build our own.

After graduation (1983) I decided to make the DJ business a full-time commitment.  By 1990 Chi-City Enterprises was doing 300 events yearly and the concept of having a DJ at a wedding became the norm.  We are really proud to be one of the early trendsetter's in the mobile DJ industry for the Chicagoland area.  I hope you will consider us for your event.  If you have any questions or would like a price quote just call me anytime.
